Utility service providers often install loadbanks and generating equipment in PSPS events or for maintenance on Transmission lines. The loadbank is a necessary piece of equipment in these settings as they provide a base load, prevent slobbering of generators and PF correction.
Now the utility service provider has a swiss army knife in one piece of mobile equipment, a loadbank that ‘listens’ to generators, solar inverters and wind turbine control systems and then utilizes any wasted electricity to replenish a BESS and allow grid forming and shaping assets to assist with load sharing without having to roll out more cable to connect components.
